Mangaluru, June 6: Minister for housing and urban development, U T Khader celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with students of Expert P U College, Valachil. Addressing the gathering, he lauded the college management for giving equal importance to the celebrations of all faiths. He said that India is a land of diverse cultures and people belonging to various faiths live in harmony.
He advised the students to think of 50 years of past culture and imagine 50 years ahead of the present always. 50 years of past culture and tradition teach us to live better and imagination of future 50 years ahead will help us to cope with the modern world.
Hawa Naseema, daughter of minister U.T. Khader inaugurated the festivity by reciting Quran in the cultural centre of the campus.
Dr Ushaprabha N Nayak, vice chairperson, Expert Group of Institutions in her introductory address said that Expert has one religion and that is Expert religion and it celebrates all the festivals equally.
Ankush N Nayak Director, Information and Technology, Expert Group of Institutions said that Eid is the festival of humanity and it brings peace and harmony in the society. He also said that we should pledge to preserve our environment as Environment Day coincided with Eid.
Dr N K Vijayan Karippal, the principal of the college presented a copy of his book ‘Nimma Makkalondige Vibhinnavagi Vyavaharisi’ to the minister.
Prof Narendra L Nayak, chairman, Expert Group of Institutions in his presidential address conveyed his Eid wishes to all and promised his continued support in transforming the young generation into socially useful and committed citizens.
Deepika A Nayak and Chinmay R, 2nd rank holder in CET, Dr Ravishankar and many other guests were present on the occasion. The students presented a variety of cultural programmes which included Arabic dance, skit and songs.
Sakshi welcomed the gathering, anchored the programme and proposed vote of thanks. A special Eid feast was served to all the students and invited guests from various walks of life.
