Circle inspector turns elected MP, receives salute from senior officer

Hyderabad, May 26: A former police inspector who used to salute his senior officers has turned the tide and had made his former bosses to salute him by becoming a Member of Parliament (MP).

Former Circle Inspector (CI) of Andhra Pradesh Gorantla Madhav is an MP now. Gorantla won from Hindupur Lok Sabha constituency of Anantpur district in the recently held 2019 LS elections.

The photo of former superior of Madhav, Deputy Superintendent of Police (CID) Mehboob Pasha saluting Madhav outside the poll counting centre after his victory has gone viral on social media. In this photo Madhav can be seen grinning while receiving the salute from Pasha who is with his police personnel.

Gorantla Madhav, who was the circle inspector of Kadiri had defeated TDP MP Christappa Nimmala by a margin of 1,40,748 votes.

This photo is clicked outside the poll counting centre. Madhav, who spoke to the media about the photo, said, "I used to salute the DSP earlier. Now he saluted me as per the protocol. I respect him. Both of us respect each other."

    These elected representatives should keep up the respect they get from the officials and people.
    They should not think this is the power they can enjoy.

    People will respect even an ordinary person for his good deeds.

    Politiy elected him as their representative in a democratic set up . Police on its part pays due regard to the People through through their elected representative. Each one understands and attends to their respective station and duties with changing times. Neither the police officer had gone below his dignity nor the people's representative took undue advantage. Unless one has authentic evidence on hand, it is not fair to speak I'll of an elected representative. Negative gossips tend to damage the System evolved over the years.

    There is nothing in the protocol where it says an M P has to be saluted.
