'Baseless rumours': Air India dismisses Israeli media reports on bankruptcy

Daijiworld Media Network

New Delhi, May 14: Air India has dismissed media reports that claim the airline is on verge of bankruptcy as ‘baseless rumours’ and called it an attempt to create confusion and tarnish its credibility.

The issue began when Israeli media outlets reported that Air India will collapse soon as it has debts running over a billion. It further advised Israeli passengers against booking tickets on the airline and those who have booked to take necessary steps to recover their money.

"Air India (AI) strongly refutes the canards being spread by a section of the media in Israel and a few web/online portals about the airline being on the verge of collapse. This is totally baseless, false and hatched to malign the image of the organisation and thwart its rising graph by vested interest," according to a statement issued by AI's Tel Aviv office.

"We would like to clear the air that, contrary to this speculation, Air India is growing from strength to strength and has, in fact, been standing by passengers in distress left stranded by airlines abruptly shutting down," it said.

“It is requested that any such attempt to create confusion and tarnish the credibility of Air India be rejected outright," the statement said.

Meanwhile, Air India country manager Pankaj Tiwari told media that the entire episode was a result of ‘fake news’ and contrary to shutting down its planning to increase the number of flights on the Tel Aviv-Delhi route.

India’s national carrier started operation on Tel Aviv-Delhi route on March 22, 2018 with three flights per week. Later it increased the flights to four per week due to the demand from passengers.

As Israel does not have diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia and Oman, the permission given to Air India by Saudi Arabia and Oman to use their airspace to fly into Tel Aviv is considered to be a diplomatic success.

Meanwhile, Israel's national carrier El Al had filed a petition with Israel's Supreme Court stating that the permission given to Air India is "unfair competition".

Though El Al later withdrew the petition, currently they the organisation is being blamed for spreading the rumours.

Israeli intelligence is 10 steps ahead of most other countries.

One never knows how much information they collect from the various messaging systems used by people. Even though all these messaging systems might claim end-to-end encryption etc, the designers will leave enough space for certain intelligence gathering.

Obviously the Indian decision-makers are using such systems to "securely" communicate with one another.

So, it may be best for people to follow the Israeli media reports, and book their flights with any alternative airlines.

What a pathetic situation in India.airlines are sleeping one by one.should we now book some bullock karts in advance?Or any hanuman bus ,which was running previously carrying passengers to kadaba to go to Bombay?
There they used to take a train then.or any express bus available? The fact is AI is not fit any more .so many "technic failures".May be the last chance to fly about was only after jet was sent in pension ,they got some passengers. They should not deny the facts.why all these flights failed?Passengers were there.lack of enthusiasm ,money was directed in wrong direction?demonetisement of rupees?disguesting situation .

Congress within 40 years (1947 to 1988) made so much development that it brought digital cameras and Internet in use - well, Modi himself said to have utilized the services - BJP within five years of its rule crumbled all business down.

Only a mountain of achievement is DeMo !

Airlines are the first in line to get hit in an ailing economic conditions. Under BJP rule first big industrialists and businessmen ran away from the country with money because they no longer could continue with thier businesses. Kingfisher airlines became bankrupt. Now Jet Airways is following the same path. Soon even Air India, Indian Airlines and other airlines will meet the same fate. Industries, banks and exports are virtually slowing at alarming pace. BJP can only blame its opponents for every silly reasons and find fault in them by blinding people from seeing its own failures for any success.

    Mr clean
MODI has nothing to do with failure of kingfisher/jet. Air India is still flying
What about GOAIR, SPICE JET INDIGO they r all flying without any problem. If you held MODI responsible for failure of King and jet you should give credit to MODI for
last 3 Airlines. Why you fail to acknowledge that
    Don't show ur double standard.
