Mangaluru May 11: The valedictory ceremony of International Nurses Day – 2019 on the theme 'Nurses, a voice to lead - health for all' was held at Father Muller Hospital on Saturday, May 11.
The week-long programme was organised by Father Muller Medical College Hospital’s (FMMCH) nursing service department.
In her address, principal of Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing Dr Larissa Martha Sams said, "Every year nurses conduct programmes to remember Florence Nightingale. In the nursing profession, we face several situations and most of them are unpleasant. We may lose our patience which may reflect poorly on our profession. We cannot expect appreciation to come our way in spite of working hard. But in many ways nurses can make a huge difference among patients and become a role model."
FMMCH administrator Fr Rudolph Ravi D’Sa appreciated the nurses for their dedication. "Nurses are appreciated by all because of the knowledge base, skills, delivery of care and love."
FMMCH director Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho said, "Nursing fraternity is the most loved working force and the most appreciated by all."
Veteran nurse Jacintha Rodrigues was felicitated. Nurses with outstanding performance for the year 2018-19 were recognized and honoured.
Chief nursing officer Sr Janet D’Souza welcomed the gathering and nursing college principal Jacintha D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
