Bantwal: Lorry-bike accident at Kumeru - Two of family killed on spot

Bantwal, May 8: Two persons died on spot when a lorry and bike collided on Annalike-Karpe Road at Kumeru on Wednesday, May 8.

The deceased have been identified as Jayalakshmi (36), wife of Rajesh, a resident of Hirni, Siddakatte, and Jayalakshmi's nephew Surendra (33).

As per sources, Surendra was riding from Annalike with Jayalakshmi as the pillion rider, and the lorry was plying from Siddakatte.

It is learnt that Jayalakshmi had come to her parental house just three days ago on account of her children's summer holidays. Her sister's son Surendra, who was working abroad, had come down to his hometown a few days ago. The family was seeking a marriage alliance for Surendra. On the day of the incident, Jayalakshmi and Surendra were riding to the local temple in this regard when the accident took place.

Jayalakshmi leaves behind her husband Rajesh, two children aged 5 and 10, and other family members. Rajesh is employed in a beedi manufacturing company.

Bantwal traffic sub-inspector Manjunath visited the spot.

Lorry driver Nagappa Rona (37) has been taken into police custody.

A case stands registered at Bantwal traffic police station.
