Vijayapura, May 8: "If the BJP rises to power at the centre, it will enforce uniform civil code. All the people would be allowed to marry only once in their lifetime and have not more than two children. This norm would be enforced through law," said Basangouda Patil Yatnal, MLA representing Vijayapura constituency.
Speaking to media persons on Tuesday May 7, he said that the BJP will also remove Article 370 of the Indian Constitution giving autonomous rights to Kashmir. "We will build temple for Lord Ram at Ayodhya. The area where Lord Vishwanath temple at Kashi stands would be cleaned up and the temple would be reconstructed," he stated.
Yatnal said that in the state BJP, he ranks only next to Yeddyurappa as far as dynamism is concerned, adding that this matter had been discussed even by the high command. "A central leader has already collected information about me," he said, duly hinting that he aspires to be the next state BJP president. He said he is eligible for all kinds of posts as he does not face any corruption cases and nor is he involved with land scams. He exuded confidence of bagging significant position in the party soon.
The MLA said that the post of the home minister has been offered to M B Patil to make sure that he does not leave the Congress. "When he was not made a minister in the past, Patil had decided to walk out of the party. If he is ready to cross over now, I will speak to party leaders towards giving him a portfolio of his choice except the post of the chief minister. We are good friends," Yatnal, who had extended an invitation to M B Patil two days ago to join the BJP, stated.
