Hubballi, May 6: While death can leave an entire family shaken, Roopa Shivalli, daughter of the late municipal administration minister C S Shivalli, has shown true grit by writing the CBSE class X exams on the day her father’s last rites were conducted.

C S Shivalli, a three-time MLA from Kundgol constituency died of cardiac arrest on March 22. Roopa appeared for the CBSE class X exam on March 23, while preparations for her father’s funeral were going on. After the exam, the girl attended the last rites.

The CBSE results are now out and Roopa has made her family proud by passing in first class. Out of 500, she has secured 380 (76 percent). She has secured 91 in social science, 82 in science, 55 in mathematics, 87 in Kannada and 65 in English.

"My father always served the people and wanted me to continue doing the same. Though it was difficult, I wrote the exam as a tribute to my father. All I wanted at that moment was to make the dream he had for me come true. All are supporting my mother who is contesting in the by-election from Kundgol and I hope she wins," she told media channels.

She also added that she will work towards fulfilling her father’s dream of serving the poor. "I think if my father was alive, he would have been happy and proud of me," she said.
