Puttur, May 6: In two tragic incidents that occurred on the morning of Monday, May 6 many people got injured when two cars collided head-on on the highway that leads to Dharmasthala from Kokkada and the ambulance which was coming to take the injured of this accident to the hospital also got toppled after the driver of the ambulance lost the control at Sauthadka Cross.
In the first incident, a Swift Desire car that was going towards Bengaluru from Dharmasthala hit head on with a Celerio car that was going towards Dharmasthala from Alankar at Kapinabagilu.
Yamuna (40), Muththappa (45), Mohini (42), Mokshi (17) and Dhanya (16), occupants of the Celerio car got injured. Among these Dhanya is said to have received serious injuries. The other four have been admitted to the government hospital in Puttur. There is no information with regards to the Swift Desire car owner. The injured from this car also have been admitted to the hospital.
Many ambulances were called to the spot of the accident by different people. During this time, an ambulance which came from Nelyadi reached the spot of the accident. But by then the injured were ferried in other ambulances. So this ambulance was rushing back towards Nelyadi. As it approached the entrance of Sauthadka temple, the driver of the ambulance lost control and the ambulance got toppled and landed in the roadside drain. The ambulance hit the scooter that was on the way but the rider of the scooter escaped without any injuries.
Nelyadi outstation police and highway patrol police arrived at the spot and controlled the traffic at the zone of accident. Traffic police have registered a case in this regard.
