Shivamogga: Five people of same family die in ghastly road accident

Shivamogga, May 1: Five members of a family, who were on their way to partake in the send off function of their family member Chandrappa, who got retired from MESCOM as an AEE, met with ghastly accident and lost their lives. This accident took place at Chikkadanavandi on the outskirts of Ayanoor near here on Tuesday, April 30.

Neelakantappa, son-in-law of Chandrappa, his wife Usha, their son Nandish, Mangalamma, wife of Chandrappa and son Manjunath were the unfortunate victims who died in this accident. Lavi, another son of Chandrappa has been admitted to the Meggan hospital in the city and is out of danger.

The staff of MESCOM had organized send off function for Chandrappa who got retired from MESCOM. His family members were travelling to Kumsi in order to take part in the same function. When the tyre of the car in which they were travelling got burst, the car was hit by a Canter that was coming from behind in top speed.

The car has been mangled due to the impact of the accident and all the five victims died on the spot. The nearby villagers informed the police.

Chandrappa, who was eagerly waiting for his family members in his office, was shocked when he heard the news of the accident.

A complaint in this regard is registered in Kumsi police station.
