Mangaluru, Apr 30: Durga Sanjeevani Manipal Hospital (DSK Manipal Hospital) constructed by Sanjeevani trust Mumbai at Amparu, Kateel was inaugurated by Pejawar Sree Vishweshatheertha Sripada here on Monday, April 29.

Dr Suresh Rao in his introductory address said that his 25 years long dream has become a reality today. “This is perhaps the first multi-specialty hospital with 100 beds in the small village of Kateel. The hospital has four large operation theatres. Kateel was confined to spirituality, donation of food and education so far. But it is now becoming popular for health facilities. I hope to form a health fund so that those who visit the hospital do not have to go back for want of money.”
Brahmarambike deity that was blessed was brought in decorated open vehicle in the morning and installed in the podium of the hospital. Several religious rituals were held in the leadership of Brahmashree Vedavyasa Tantri, Brahmashree Vedamurthi Ramachandra Updadhyaya and Vedamurthi Gururaja Udupa. Trustee director Laxmisha G Acharya and Vanitha L Acharya, Dr Prashanath Rao and Dr Supriya P Rao, Jagadish Acharya and Meera J Acharya, Sathish Rao and Aruna S Rao, Chandrashekar Rao and Jayashree Rao, Dr Suresh Kateel and Vijayalaxmi Suresh Rao were in charge of poojas.

Dr Disha Kateel and Deeksha Kateel sang prayers. Vidwan Kateel Harinarayan Asranna welcomed. Journalist Manohar Prasad introduced the guest and compered the programme. Trustee Laksmisha Acharya proposed vote of thanks. Yakshagana plays ‘Dhanvantari, Sanjeevini, Srinivas Kalyana’ were performed in the hospital premises at night by Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari Dashavatara Yakshagana mandali.
The three-storey hospital built in an area of 1.5 acres land has an area of 70,000 square feet. The hospital will provide quality treatment at reasonable rates. It has 100 beds and the emergency ward will work round the clock. It will also have departments of maternity and gynaecology, orthopaedic, general medicine, eye section, ear nose and throat, emergency treatment, dental and skins treatment, ECG, CT scan, 2nd Echo, different labs, ICU and mortuary. It will also have medical store, well maintained parking facilities and quarters for doctors. The multi-specialty hospital will function round the clock, said Sanjeevani trust Mumbai founder Dr Suresh S Rao.
