Bengaluru, Apr 30: “The Congress-JD(S) coalition government is in deep slumber even as most parts of the state reel under severe drought,” said BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa on Monday, April 30.
“While people in 162 taluks of the state are suffering due to the scarcity of drinking water, chief minister H D Kumaraswamy and his ministerial colleagues are either holidaying in resorts or keeping themselves busy in by-elections,” he added.
“The government has not made any effort to even assess the drought situation, let alone providing relief to the affected people,” Yeddyurappa said.
As many as 2,157 villages are facing acute scarcity of drinking water. Many parts of Bengaluru are not getting drinking water supply. Majority of the bore wells have become dry in the state,” he informed.
Meanwhile, a BJP delegation led by its leader R Ashoka urged Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sanjeev Kumar not to allow the state government to take up any infrastructure works in Bengaluru in violation of the model code of conduct.
“The government is planning to take up infrastructure projects to be tune of Rs 4,261 crore in Bengaluru under Nava Bengaluru scheme. This is violation of the model code of conduct,” the delegation stated in its petition to the CEO.
