Bengaluru, Apr 28: In a shocking incident that is reported from the city, important records belonging to a high profile cheating case have gone missing from the Cubbon Park police station.
A complaint in this regard is filed by the Cubbon Park police station inspector Ayyanna Reddy.
Cubbon Park police had arrested four people in the month of January 2019 in connection of alleged misappropriation of funds to the tune of Rs 62 crore belonging to the Manipal Education and Medical Group (MEMG). Preparation also made subsequently to file a chargesheet on the accused. However, in the midst of these preparations, seven vital pages of the 3,000 page document went missing. Inspector Ayyanna has expressed his suspicion on constable Kiran Kumar, who assisted him during the investigation. In addition, he has filed complain as Kiran Kumar could not give suitable clarification in this matter.
The then deputy general manager of MEMG, Sandeep Gururaj (38), his wife Charusmitha (30), Meera Chengappa (59) and her daughter Amrita Chengappa (32) are arrested in this case. Another suspect Vishal Somanna is absconding. There is a possibility that these vital pages from the document might have been stolen in order to secure bail for the accused.
