Bengaluru, Apr 25: In a bizarre incident that occurred on Wednesday at the head office of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) in the city, a man who deals in real estate tried to kill himself with scissors after he was arrested by the sleuths for allegedly cheating property buyers.
Police raided the house and office of Yousuf Sharif, proprietor of Umrah Developers, situated at Richmond road. During the raid the sleuths discovered crores of rupees worth of property documents.
According to the suspicion expressed by the police, Sharif had sold six acres of land that belonged to the government, located on the outskirts of the city, to Indraprastha Shelters private limited, a company that has interest in real estate business in the year 2011 by forging the documents. He mortgaged the same property to another real estate dealer using one more set of forged documents in January of 2019. The real estate company which had bought the land earlier from the fraudster came to know about this deal and filed a complaint with the police.

During the initial investigation, the cops unearthed that the accused had cheated many people in a similar fashion using fake property documents. The case was further taken up by the CCB.
Sharif started screaming and misbehaving with the police officials of CCB soon after his arrest at the CCB office of Chamrajpet. He also threatened the policemen that he will get the policemen in the team that raided his house suspended and also rusticate them by using his clout and money that amounts to Rs 500 crore. While he was screaming and behaving rudely, he suddenly picked a pair of scissors that were kept on the table of a policeman and tried to stab himself. In addition, he also spoke in a abusive language with some of the CCB police officers.
Sharif was produced in court by the CCB, which requested the court permission to inquire him in their custody.
In addition to the already filed cheating case, another case is registered against the accused in the Cottonpet police station under IPC section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging his duty) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace).
