Bantwal, Apr 22: Hajee B Abdul Khader (87), a resident of Golthamajal near Kalladka in the taluk, founder of renowned Hajjaj group of companies, senior litterateur, poet, social and religious leader passed away in a private hospital of Mangaluru due to a brief illness.
Abdul Khader Hajee is a leading senior Beary and Kannada literature poet. His numerous articles and poems have got published in the newspapers. He has also got some of his books published. A congratulatory book is also released in his honour. He has worked as the president of the president of Bantwal Taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelana. He was conferred with awards in the taluk and district level Sahitya Sammelana. He has got award from the Karnataka state Beary Sahitya Academy also.
Golthamajal Abdul Khader Hajee and his brother Golthamajal Abubakkar Hajee made a vow, while returning from the sacred Haj pilgrimage, that both of them would start an industry by the name 'Hajjaj'. Accordingly, they established Hajjaj beedi industry in 1970. It became famous in the states of Kerala and Karnataka. In later years, they started Hajjaj bar soap and Hajjaj plastics and tasted success in these industries also. Currently they along with their children are managing the business.
In addition to his entrepreneurship, Hajee Abdul Khader devoted himself for the development of poor and weak people of the society. He has contributed immensely in the development of Kalladka Jumma Masjid and Golthamajal Jumma Masjid. He was providing education to thousands of students through the family trust of Hajjaj group by establishing the 'Gem Public School'. He also played a stellar role in starting a government high school at Golthamajal. He united youth of all communities under Hajjaj Sports Club, which is renowned in the state for its achievements in the sports of Kabaddi. He was well-known in the coastal district due to his contribution in the social, religious and education sectors.
Abdul Khader Hajee has left behind wife, five daughters and six sons, including Samastha leader Ahmed Yusuf Hajee, president of Hidaya Foundation and M Friends association, Mohammed Haneef Hajee, active member of Beary Chamber of Commerce, Abdul Razak Hajee, former president of Bantwal Rotary and progressive dairy farmer Ahmed Mustafa, Hajjaj sports club members Mohammed Sharif and Altaf.
The mortal remains of Hajee Abdul Khader are already placed at his residence in Golthamajal for public viewing. The final rites of the body will take place at 4 pm. The burial will take place after the Asar prayers at Kalladka Jumma Masjid at 5 pm according to family sources.
