Raichur, Apr 19: A gruesome incident of cold blooded murder and rape was reported in Raichur district. A burnt body of a 23-year-old young girl was found hanging from a tree in a forest behind the Husukina Hanumantha Temple close to Manik Prabhu Layout on April 15. Accused Sudarshan Yadav has now been arrested for the case of murder and rape.
Madhu Pathara, the deceased, was said to have been raped and burnt to death, and then hung from the tree. It is reported that the incident happened on April 13 and her body was found on April 15 in the forest near her college.
On April 13, her parents approached Sadara Bazar police station since the young woman did not return home after the college hours. Police refused to file the case saying them the missing women is not a minor. Her friends claimed that that she attended classes in the morning and disappeared in the afternoon. Police collected the CCTV visuals that show the woman entering the college but there is no record of her stepping out of the gate.
Her parents said that they approached the police and they were not ready to file a case even after a day of missing "We approached the police once again on the afternoon of April 14. The police said she may have gone away with friends and she would be back. They neglected our complaint," the girl's father said.
On April 15, official from Netaji Nagar police station called her parents and told that they had found their daughter’s body along with a suicide note. In the alleged suicide note, she stated that she was committing suicide because of study backlogs. However, her friend had denied the claim and said it is evidently false because she had cleared all her subjects.
The students came out in protest saying that the suicide was forged and that this was a clear case of murder. "It is very clear that the note was false. She cleared her exams and was happy when the results of the re-evaluation were released on the night of April 12. This is a case of murder and we will not stop protesting until the police conduct a thorough and unbiased enquiry”, a student studying in the institute said.
A massive rage has been evoked since the incident was reported in the media. Social media users have shared horrendous photos with a hash tag asking for justice for the young woman. Hundreds of locals took out a candle march in memory of the girl demanding justice for her family.
The superintendent of police is likely to address a press meet later on Friday.
