New Delhi, Apr 19: Close on the heels of a tweet in which she criticized the Congress leadership, party's national spokesperson, Priyanka Chaturvedi, resigned from her position on Thursday April 18 night. Priyanka had expressed her frustration at the decision taken by the leaders of the party to re-admit a number of party workers who were suspended last year. She had said in her blistering attack that Congress was giving more importance to goons than sincere party workers.
Priyanka Chaturvedi on Friday afternoon joined the Shiv Sena in the presence of party chief Uddhav Thackeray.
What made Chaturvedi angry was the fact that general secretary of the party in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, Jyotiraditya Scindia, along with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, upheld a proposal by Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee to admit the dismissed workers. She expressed her anger by stating in the latest tweet that she was saddened by the fact that those who had threatened her and were suspended by the party were allowed to get scot free without any punishment and re-admitted into the party.
This development could result in loss of face for the Congress at a time when election is in progress.
