Mangaluru, Apr 19: A voter, Veerendra Lancy Kumar D'Souza, whose name is listed in the polling booth at Ellur near Padubidri, came up with the complaint that the vote he had exercised had gone to another candidate. He was allowed to cast his vote in the presence of agents of different candidates after he exercised his right of challenge, and it was found that the vote was correctly accounted for. As such, a case was registered against him, and the police took him into custody. He was released on bail later.

When the voter came up with the challenge, the polling officer obtained his entire details including thumb impression in the prescribed form. This happened at around 2 pm. The Padubidri police registered first information report based on the polling officer's complaint, said taluk electoral officer, Nagaraj.
