Mangaluru: Girl student on two-wheeler dies in accident

Mangaluru, Apr 18: A girl student who had left home to buy some things from a shop on scooter died after her vehicle skidded. This tragic accident happened at Kukkatte Taremar near Ganjimath on Wednesday April 17 afternoon.

The deceased was Sushma Shetty (15), daughter of Mogaruguthu Hosamane Seetharam Shetty and Yashoda couple. She was a tenth standard student of Pompei high school at Gurpur Kaikamba.

Sushma had left her home to buy a few things for her family from a nearby store at Taremar on scooter. On her return home after buying onions and ice cream, the wheels of her two-wheeler skidded suddenly causing her to fall onto the road and loose her life instantly, police personnel said.

Sushma Shetty was a brilliant student. Her death brought profound grief to everyone in her village. Bajpe police who registered the case are investigating.

    That's the reason helmets have been made mandatory. Plus she's under 18, how come her parents let her have a two wheeler vehicle without licence? We can just pray for her soul to rest in peace and condolences to the family. If parents would have been careful enough, Sushma would have been alive now. We hope more parents and children learn from this incident be aware of the MVC laws.

    The RC owner should be booked by law for allowing the girl to ride the two wheeler and that too without a helmet. He should be jailed. This punishment will teach others not to break law by allowing a kid to drive. To get a permission/ license he or she should be 18 years of age in our country. No emotion or sentiment.

    Parents should have the awareness to treat the child according to their age. She was under aged and allowed to ride a scooter..
    May God give her parents full strength to overcome the loss which can never be filled in their entire life

    Very tragic, sad. May her soul rest in peace. Let us take all the steps to prevent such deaths. Life lost is a unbearable pain for the rest of our life. Even if we know our kid is a good rider , we better wait till the kid attains legal age to get licenced. Then of course there are other concerns such as road safety issues and conditions on road.
