Bengaluru, Apr 17: Amidst the shrill cacophony of `Mai Bhi Chowkidar’ and `Chowkidar Chor Hai,’ among the supporters of BJP and Congress, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee has come out with a unprecedented list of 50 reasons why people should not vote for BJP even as the stage is set for the first phase of polling in Karnataka’s 14 lok sabha constituencies on Thursday.
The second phase of polling in the remaining 14 constituencies is scheduled to take place on April 23.
The Congress party has fielded its candidates in 21 constituencies in the State while its coalition partner JD(S) has candidates in the remaining 7 constituencies.
Listing out some of the main reasons, the Congress said the NDA government has significantly hiked in petrol and diesel prices when the crude oil price is low.
The Modi government has not passed the benefits of low crude prices to the common people.
The KPCC said during the NDA regime, prices of LPG, and railway and bus fares increased and caused burden to the common man.
The Congress party alleged that the BJP has encouraged crony capitalism by offering 268 acres at Rs 58 crore.
It also alleged that the RBI waived off Rs 24 lakh crore borrowed by various corporates. But the Modi government has rejected the farmers demand to waiver of crop loans. Moreover, suicide rate among farmers increased by 40% in BJP ruled states, the Congress claimed.
Demonetisation of high value currencies by the Modi government in 2016 has reduced the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rate by two per cent. It failed to curb black money in the country.
The NDA government failed to deliver its main poll plank issues such as 2 crore jobs per year to unemployed, and Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas slogan.
The people have not received Acchhe Din as promised by the BJP Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the run-up to the poll in 2014, the Congress said.
The Congress said that only one lakh jobs were created and demonetisation has ‘killed’ lacs of jobs in almost all sectors of the economy.
Noting that Rafale deal as ‘mother of all scams’, the party said the deal has allegedly benefited businessman Anil Ambani.
