Mangaluru: People friendly policing - police commissioner interacts with general public

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (AM)

Mangaluru, Apr 7: In an aim to bridge gap between police and public, police commissioner Sandeep Patil on Sunday, April 7, was spotted speaking to auto-rickshaw drivers and street vendors near Bondel and Kavoor.

The police commissioner interacted with the public and heard their issues.

Last month, he had also held chaired a grievance meeting with city police staff where he heard police personnel's issues.

After assuming the office as commissioner of police of the city, Sandeep Patil has come out with different methods of people friendly policing and also to make life easier for the citizens living in the city.

Sandeep Patil is 2004 IPS batch officer hailing from Bidar. He completed his education in Bengaluru. He has served as SP of Ballari, Kodagu, Davanagere and Belagavi. He also served as DCP of Mangaluru North and Central, SP intelligence Bengaluru, DIG KSRP and DIG CAR, before taking charge as police commissioner of Mangaluru.

This Police chief is not only strict but shows his qualities by interacting the the public, esp. the auto drivers. This is a very healthy and most acceptable step which will help every one. Friendly but firm policing is the need of the hour. Great stuff.

All rickshaw and Taxi drivers must have ID issued by RTO. They should expose this ID while they are on duty.

I really appreciate his quick action after assuming office. But request is to shift the service bus stand to Pump well and make Mangalore free flow of traffic in the heart of the city. So far all Police commissioner have failed to control the Traffic.

    Good initiative,
police should be friendly with Rickshaw drivers and Barbars .
They gather maximum information along with their routine work.

e.g.: Barber he keeps on shaving or hair cutting and keeps on asking questions to his customers -ಬಕ್ಕಾ ದಾದಾ ಆಂಡ್ ?

Here is a very strict disciplinarian and yet A PEOPLE FRIENDLY PERSON. Yes the roads that were built a hundred years ago were alright for the traffic then. However the present day traffic is heavy and therefore all the care needs to be taken to avoid accidents and even accidental death

People friendly policing is the right term. A friend of law abiding citizens but at the same time RUTHLESS with trouble mongers.

If I have to say about the autorickshaw drivers is that they park their autos anywhere obstructing traffic and pedestrians. Front of hospitals, temples, churches, junctions and etc. are the main places where these auto drivers park their autos. I really cannot understand having a autorickshaw stand next to Mischief mall on KS Rao road the autos are parked on the footpath while entering PM Rao road. Pedestrians have a difficult time while walking on the footpath. The authorities should look into it.
