Dubai, Apr 7: Daiji Dubai, a forum of Konkani writers in the UAE, has announced its 20th anniversary and invites everyone to be a part of the celebration and gala show.
The exciting merriment will be held at Emirates International School Auditorium, Dubai on Friday, April 26 at 5.30 pm under the flagship of Maestro Events Dubai. Daiji Dubai, after celebrating last two anniversaries in Mangaluru and Udupi respectively, is back to its second home to celebrate its anniversary this time.
Daiji anniversary which has always been a high profile and professionally managed entertainment programme is considered one of the prestigious Konkani events and is being patronized by a large audience, every year. During the event, traditionally the prestigious 'Daiji Puraskar' is awarded to a Konkani literature personality. Popular writer ,poet and Konkani activist Valerian D Souza popularly known as Vally Vagga, is the 20th to receive this honour.
The 20th anniversary is going to be bigger and better than ever, it is like coming back home. A part of the magnificent celebration includes a full length critically acclaimed stage play ‘Mamma Retire Zatha’ originally written in Marathi by Ashok Patole which has already seen more than 8000 shows. The play will be directed by none other than Dayan D Souza Mukamaar who has the long history of directing successful plays. Daiji Rang Mandir, a center of performing arts and cultural wing of Daiji Dubai, will organize this show. The seasoned artistes always bring the quality factor and that will make a huge difference to this show. Maxim Rodrigues Bondel holds the rights to translate and play this memorable drama in Konkani.
The members of Daiji Dubai have requested everyone to support the programme with their presence and contribution in whichever way appropriate. As is well known, besides its cultural identity, 'Daiji Dubai' is also associated with many worthy social causes thereby motivating other people and organizations worldwide.
