Bengaluru, Apr 6: More than 20 candidates from Karnataka have cleared the prestigious civil service final examination of the year 2018.
According to results announced by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Friday, Rahul Sharanappa Sankanur from Hubballi, who secured 17th rank, is top rank holder among the candidates selected from the state.
Other three candidates Lakshmi N (45), Akash S (78) and Kruthika (100) from the state secured within 100 ranks, apart from Rahul.
The list of other candidates who passed the examination and their ranks are as follows:
Koushik H R (240), Vivek H B (257), Niveditha S Balaraddiyavar (303), Girish Dharmaraj Kalagond (307), Mirza Qadir Baig (336), Thejas U P (338), Harshavardana B J (352), Pakkiresh Kallappa Badami (372), Nagarjun B Gowda (418), Ashwija B V (423), Manjunath R (495), Brinda S (496), Hemanth N (612), Shruthi M K (637), Venkatram (694), Ashok Kumar S (711), Raghavendra N (739), Santhosha H (753) and Shashikiran S (754).
Rahul Sharanappa Sankanur is a resident of Hubballi and a native of Idagunji village in Ron taluk of Gadag. Rahul cleared the civil service exams in fifth attempt. He had cleared the Mains in 2016 and 2017 too, but could not clear the interview. A student of Ramakrishna Vidyashala, Mysuru, and R V Engineering College, Bengaluru (E&C branch), Rahul owes his success to the school in Mysuru.
"I had a fixed routine and would study 13 hours every day. Newspapers, magazines, internet and most importantly, interacting with people who had solutions for a majority of problems faced by India, helped me clear the exams," he said speaking to media.
Rahul desires to serve in the education field and aims at providing quality education to the next generation.
His father, Sharanappa Sankanur, is a retired PWD executive engineer, and mother Savitha is a homemaker. His uncle S V Sankanur is an MLC from BJP.
