Udupi, Apr 5: Udupi chief judicial and JMFC court sentenced an assault accused for three years imprisonment. The convict was also told to pay Rs 3,000 fine.
The convict is Suresh, a resident near Ontibettu school, Anjaru village.
Suresh had assaulted his neighbour Susheela, mother of complainant H Harish. He has also hurled expletives at her, hit on her face with a crusher stone and broken her nose seriously injuring her at night on August 26, 2012.
Hiriyadka station police sub-inspector B Laxman had conducted investigations and submitted a chargesheet to the court.
Judge Irfan who heard the case, pronounced that the crime by Suresh has been proved and sentenced him to three years imprisonment with a fine of Rs 3,000 under IPC 504 and 326.
Assistant government prosecutor Jayanti K had argued for the prosecution.
