Udupi, April 3: To quench the thirst of animals and birds, and give them respite from the scorching heat, Udupi District Citizen Committee has kept a large wide open stone vessel ‘Kall Margi’ filled with water in front of Car Street in Udupi.

The 150 year old vessel belongs to Late Bhandarigadde Ellu Bhandary. He used to keep water for animals when he was alive but the practice stopped after his death. Committee secretary Nithyananda Olakadu requested the family for the vessel to continue the age old practice.

Nithyananda Olakadu, members Taranath Mestha Shirur, David, Nazeer, Mohan, Kishore Kumar Karnapady, Karthik, Mohan Deshpande and others were present.
