Bengaluru, Apr 1: State Women's Commission has issued a notice to Bengaluru South Lok Sabha BJP candidate Tejasvi Surya, to appear before it with regard to a case related to harassment faced by a woman.
It may be recalled that Congress Women's Wing president Dr B Pushpa Amarnath had lodged a complaint with the State Women's Commission against Surya.
In the complaint, the Congress leader had urged the Commission to provide security to the woman, who in a number of tweets charged Tejasvi for abusing and hitting women and called him a womanizer. The woman had also asked the people whether they would blindly support such a man. In the complaint, the Congress leader had also stated that the woman had made serious allegations against Tejasvi that he had harassed and cheated several other women too.
Following the complaint, the Women's Commission president Nagalaxmi Bai has asked BJP candidate Surya to appear before it on Wednesday, April 3 at 12 pm.
The complaint by Pushpa Amarnath further states, “Since Tejasvi is a relative of BJP MLA Ravi Subramanya and has outside support of bigwigs of the party at the centre, the woman is facing threat to life. It is understood that the woman has now deleted her tweets allegedly fearing threat to life. Hence, the Women's Commission must provide security to her. Considering media reports and tweets of the woman regarding the BJP candidate's harassment, the Women’s Commission must take action against Tejasvi and provide security to the woman.”
