Puttur: Man loses life in accident between Maruti van, pick-up truck

Puttur, Jan 23: In a collision between a Maruti van and pick-up truck which happened near Mukwe mosque here on Tuesday January 22, a man lost his life. He has been identified as Krishna Bhat (55), a resident of Siddanaguri, Veeramangala in the taluk.

Krishna Bhat, who was in the car, suffered serious injuries and breathed his last at a hospital here. His son, Avinash, who sustained grave injuries, is being treated in a hospital at Mangaluru.

As per information, Krishna Bhat was involved with preparation of 'Holige', a popular sweet, and distributing the same to different bakeries for being sold. He was moving towards the city along with his son for the purpose when a pick-up truck that was moving towards Purusharakatte from Miukwe hit the Omni when trying to overtake a motor bike.

Sensing that the pick-up truck was on a collision course, the Omni was swerved to extreme left of the road. But the pick-up came at high speed and directly rammed into the van.This scene was captured in CCTV camera in the area. This footage has already become widespread through social websites.

Pick-up driver, Honnappa, was also injured in the accident. A case about this accident stands registered in the traffic police station here.
