Petrol, diesel see big price hikes as global crude oil rates continue to climb

New Delhi, Jan 20 (IANS): Transport fuel rates were hiked sharply on Sunday as global crude oil rates continued to climb handsomely following the implementation of output cuts by global oil producers from January 1.

State-run oil marketing companies increased petrol rates by 23 paise per litre while diesel prices went up by 29-31 paise across the four major metros, making it among the sharpest hikes ever since rates had been rising this month following a prolonged period of fall.

Petrol and diesel prices have increased by more than Rs 2 per litre each during January.

As per data from Indian Oil Corp, petrol price in Delhi was increased to Rs 70.95 per litre on Sunday while in Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai the fuel cost Rs 73.05, Rs 76.58 and Rs 73.65 respectively.

Similarly, the price of diesel went up on Sunday in the national capital to Rs 65.45 per litre.

In Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai, diesel sold at Rs 67.23, Rs 68.53 and Rs 69.14 a litre respectively.

With petroleum products being outside the GST regime, prices vary as a result of local taxes.

As per the country's dynamic pricing mechanism, the domestic fuel prices depend upon international fuel prices on a 15-day average and the value of the rupee.

Following the implementation of production cuts by the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and non-OPEC producers, global crude rates have been hardening and the UK Brent crude closed over the weekend at over $62 a barrel after having fallen below $50 last month.

Baba Ramdev should be encouraged to use his potential to find out an alternative formula to produce some fuel like petrol. He has tried so many other things (alternatives for foreign products through pathnjali brand) and succeeded in building his business empire. Some aurvedic spirit mass production if possible

What PM Modi government don't want you to know that,
Through an RTI report, RTI activist from Punjab, Rohit Sabrawal revealed that India is selling Rs 34 per litre Petrol to 15 countries and Rs 37 per litre diesel to 29 countries while Indian citizens have been availing the same Petrol and diesel for more than double the price.

The price of domestic refined oil is higher than the export price largely due to more than 100% tax rate by the Center and the States

As per the information provided by Indian Oil Corporation, crude Petrol cost of Indian companies (20th August) was Rs 35.90 per liter while crude diesel came at Rs 38.25 per litre.

The price of refined petrol charged by Indian Oil to dealers was Rs 37.93 per liter while refined diesel charged to dealers was Rs 41.04 per litre.

This is the reason BJP's spokesperson Sambit Patra made ONGC Director who get paid Rs26 lakh salary from taxpayers money to shout every day on paid TV channels and made pay for Sardar Patel statues.

The 'Nasibwallah' Prime Minister Modi sold fuel to India is among the highest in South East Asia and collected 11 lakh crores in taxes and still short of Rs20,000 crores of a deficit in the budget.

Haha...Great suggestion.First of all you should understand the fact that petrol price is not determined as per public outcry, rather its purely based on Demand and supply theroy and certain decisions made by OPEC.Since past 2 months the crude oil price in the international market has fallen drastically, because of over supply in the market ,hence the OPEC has taken decision of production cut in order to create balance in the market and to bring stable price.

When we have Atom Bombs and delivery system to deliver it to our enemies....I don't understand why we need a Million men army....we need a small but powerful and fully trained Military Force like Israel....not like Saddam's useless million men army....consisting semi-literate people...
