Shivamogga: Woman suffering from monkey fever succumbs

Shivamogga, Jan 19: Dombekai Laxmidevi (78) living within the limits of Aralagodu gram panchayat in Sagar taluk in the district, who was afflicted by suspected monkey fever, breathed her last on Friday January 18.

With this, the number of victims of this disease in Sagar taluk has reached eight.

Laxmidevi, who was suffering from suspected monkey fever, which is also known with the name, Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD), was being treated for the same since January 14. Since the last two days, her condition had deteriorated. Without responding to treatments, she passed away at the hospital on Friday.

Although the hospital report has confirmed that she was infected with KFD virus, it is said that the blood test conducted by KFD control department has not yet furnished its report on the tests conducted on the blood samples.
