Jan 6: Overwhelmed by the heart-warming response to the McGrath foundation fund-raising initiative, Australian pace legend Glenn McGrath said on Monday his late wife would have been humbled, embarrassed and proud to see what has been achieved.
"She would be wondering what all the fuss is about to start with. But she would be very humbled and slightly embarrassed and very proud of what was achieved," McGrath told told the Australian Associated Press.
The legendary pacer, who was overcome with emotion during a fund-raising lunch where his late wife's footages were shown on screen, said the realisation will sink in once he ponders over what happened here.
"I had to look away at one stage," McGrath said.
"Once the Test match has finished emotions will probably come out a bit more and it will hit home more as I reflect on what has happened," he added.
McGrath said the initiative would help create more breast cancer awareness among young women.
"It has been awesome. The Australian public has been so generous in these tough times. Hopefully it will raise breast awareness throughout the whole of Australia, especially among young women," Mcgrath said.
McGrath foundation raised USD 320,000, including USD 50,000 donation from the Nine Network and the Women's Weekly at the event.
