New Delhi, Jan 16: Senior Congress leader Dr M Veerappa Moily, who is also Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance, has demanded an apology from Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel for ‘false allegations’ against him.
Kateel on Tuesday had blamed Moliy for clearing passage of merger of Vijaya Bank with Bank of Baroda. NDA government has taken forward a decision taken by previous UPA government, he had said.
“Your allegations are far from truth. I have not petitioned for Vijaya Bank merger with any other bank,” Moily wrote in a letter to Nalin Kumar Kateel.

He also lashed out at the MP for spreading false rumours without understanding the truth and said his act was not appropriate for that of an MP.
“You have the name ‘Kateel’ attached to your name. Remember that name is that of a holy land. By spreading false charges, you yourself are maligning your own name. In spite of being an MP, without reading reports like an illiterate you have put allegations against me. You need to apologise for your comments,” Moily demanded.
