Ranchi, Jan 3: The extortion letters to India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni would not affect his professionalism and the offenders should be booked, former cricketers said.
"We are not afraid of such things, though we prefer precaution," Dhoni's brother-in-law Goutam Gupta said. Former Test cricketer Randhir Singh said, "I know Dhoni from close. He has always been positive in his attitude and approach. Threats will not affect a top cricketer like him."
Chanchal Bhattacharya, a former coach, said though such an issue could upset an individual, Dhoni's professionalism was sure to overcome it. "Anything concerning the family makes a person tense, but Dhoni's professionalism is sure to remain unaffected on the pitch."
Former Bihar captain KVP Rao called for action against the mischief-makers. "The senders of such letters should be booked at the earliest. I am sure it will not affect Dhoni who is a thorough professional," he said.
Adil Hussein, a former Ranji player, expressed sadness that such things were happening in Ranchi. "Ranchi is no Mumbai, but still such things are happening here. Action should be taken against the persons involved," said Hussein
