Udupi, Dec 26: “Ever since BJP came to power in the country, it has revered religious heads. It has not misused them like other political parties,” said MLA K Raghupathi Bhat. He was speaking after chairing in the programme held by Udupi Minority Morcha in the MLA’s office to celebrate Christmas.
“After Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the prime minister, every citizen has experienced equality and religious harmony. It shows that the country is becoming literate,” he said.
BJP district president Mattar Rathnakar Hegde inaugurated the programme. He said that religious celebrations make the dream of unity a reality only when people belonging to all religions celebrate them together.
Kallianpur Milagres church parish priest Fr Kenneth Noronha gave Christmas message and said that taking part in the unique programme is a new experience to him. “Let us proceed together in the meaning of religious harmony,” he said.
Taluk panchayat vice president Rajendra Pandubettu, town minority morcha president Davood Abubaker, municipal councillor Srisha Kodavooru, Harish Shetty, Girish Anchan, Giridhar Acharya, Santhosh Kumar, activists Kishore Karamballi, Dinesh Kumar, Vijay Poojary, Suresh Hengavalli, Chandrakanth Shetty, Wilson Sneha Sangama, Ishwar Nagar president Harish G Kalmady and others were present.
Morcha vice president Alwyn D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Municipal council president Prabhaker Poojary proposed vote of thanks. Manjunath Manipal compered the programme.
