Udupi, Dec 26: Preparations for the arrival of the first citizen of India in Udupi have reached final stages. President Ram Nath Kovind will visit Sri Krishna Pejawar Math on December 27. The district administration has conducted all the preparations for his visit.
The President will land in a helicopter at Udupi helipad and will be brought in a special vehicle to the circuit house at Bannanje. He will visit Sri Krishna Math followed by Pejawar Math. Bannanje circuit house is being painted. Minor repair works are completed. The premises are cleaned to make sure that even a small bit of trash is not left. The rooms that were renovated during President Pranab Mukherjee’s visit by spending several lacs will be used by president Kovind for rest during his second visit. As per another source, the President will proceed to the Math directly from the helipad and will not take rest in circuit house. However, the circuit house shines for his visit.
SP visits Pejawar Math
SP Laxman B Nimbargi, Zilla Panchayat CEO Sindhu B Roopesh, ASP Kumarachandra and other department officials visited the place and conducted inspection. They checked the rooms, auditorium and verandah. The wall, gate and pillars are being painted in the Math. Eight workers are engaged in doing the work.
Helipad is getting ready
The President will arrive at Mangaluru airport at 11 am and proceed to Adi Udupi by air force helicopter at 11.45 am. The grass and shrubs grown in the areas surrounding the helipad have been cut. The helipad is painted white. There are two helipads there.
Potholes that will welcome the President
The President who will be going from Adi Udupi helipad to Sri Krishna Math will be welcomed by potholes on the highway. He is likely to experience three or four potholes and inferior quality highway work on his way from Adi Udupi to Karavali Junction.
Intelligence bureau to keep a close watch
The security for the first citizen of India and the supreme head of the armed forces is said to be extremely tight. Army intelligence bureau, central intelligence bureau, home affairs intelligence , research and analysis wing and undercover agents are inspecting the places where the President is likely to visit and reporting to NSG. National Security Guards have inspected helipad, tourist bungalow and Pejawar Math twice.
Security is a challenge in the programme being attended by the President, governors and chief minister. District police department senior officials have held meetings and have taken all the measures to provide foolproof security. Thousands of police personnel are deployed. KSRP troops, armed police, dog squad from the district and outside, civil police and police from other districts are also deployed.
Rooms booked in prestigious hotels
Twenty rooms in prestigious private hotels are booked for chief minister and Rastrapathi Bhavan officials. Thirty government Innova vehicles will be used for the President, VVIPs and VIPs.
Shops to remain closed
Shops near Sanskrit college, around Car Street and Rajangana will remain closed on December 26 from 12 pm till 3 pm on December 27. Public visits to Udupi Sri Krishna Math are banned from 6 am to 3 pm on December 27.
