Udupi, Dec 22: Deputy commissioner of the district, Priyanka Mary Francis, asked the officials to take abundant precautions during preparation of Prasadam and its distribution. She also instructed food safety officials to undertake workshops for the heads of temple managing committees to impart specific instructions and information to them.
She was speaking after presiding the district level food safety and quality advisory committee and district anti tobacco cell meeting here on Friday December 21.
"It is mandatory to have CCTV cameras in kitchens involved with preparation of food including Akshara Dasoha midday meal programme. Care should be taken not to allow unauthorized persons into these rooms. Food should be distributed only after making sure that the preparation is fit for consumption," she stated. She also advised food safety officials to regularly visit midday meal kitchens and ensure that the quality of items used is good. Godowns, where food items are kept , should be inspected to check safety aspects and quality and reports thereof should be submitted, she added.
She asked people transporting fish to Goa to invariably obtain certificates from food safety officials.
District heath and family welfare officer, Dr Rohini, and other officials were present.
