Mangaluru Dec 20: Centre for Advanced Learning (CFAL) gained record results at the Karnataka Regional Mathematics Olympiad (KRMO - 2018).
Addressing the media here on Thursday, December 20, programme coordinator of CFAL, Severine Rosario said, "Seven students from the city are among the 41 students selected from the state of Karnataka. All the selected candidates from the city are students of CFAL. Adithya of tenth standard is the second topper out of the 30 selected in Karnataka in the 8th to 11th standard category, while Yerma Koustubh Rao and Anmol J Shetty were the only two PUC students of learning Centre PU college."
"All selected students qualify for INMO (Indian National Mathematical Olympiad), which leads to International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). Mathematical Olympiad is one of the most prestigious examinations conducted by the government of India under the aegis of National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM)," added Severine Rosario.
Severine further said, "Samarth is in the second position out of the only six selected students in the 12th Std category in Karnataka. Anish Hebbar of 12th Std was selected and had attended the IMO selection camp held at Homi Baba centre for science and education in Mumbai in April - May 2018. He is once again eligible to attend the IMO selection camp in 2019 without getting through the initial three stages of selection."
"First stage of the exam was held in the month of August at different centers all over India. A total of 360 students from Karnataka were selected for the second stage exam of Karnataka regional mathematics Olympiad also known as KRMO. Among these 360 students, 38 students were from CFAL. KRMO 2018 was held on October 7. 41 students have been selected from Karnataka for the third stage exam of INMO. Out of 41 students, seven students belong to CFAL Mangaluru," concluded Severine Rosario.
Faculty of CFAL, Dr Srikanth Pai and Programme coordinator Vijay Moras were present.
