Bengaluru: Lorry runs over people sleeping on footpath, 14-yr-old boy dies, 14 injured

Bengaluru, Dec 17: A fourteen year old boy died after a container lorry ran over him and other people sleeping on a footpath. Fourteen people are injured in this incident.

The incident took place in Nelamangala traffic police station limits on Monday morning, December 17 near Jos Toll on Tumkur to Bengaluru NH 6.

The deceased boy is identified as Jothu Chowhan(14).

Among the injured, a woman has sustained serious injuries. The others have escaped with minor injuries.

Fifteen members of a family who hail from Maharashtra had slept on the footpath. The speeding container lorry ran over them. The seriously injured woman has been admitted to Victoria Hospital.

The driver who caused the accident has fled with the lorry.

Nelamangala traffic police have registered a case.

    This is indeed a very serious offence. After the tragedy, it was expedient for the driver to render First Aid. Instead he has driven away It is only a question of time before the person is apprehended and booked.

    Tragic and very sad.To run over fifteen people and injur so many people ,later fled from spot is a very racing case.He fled also .No mercy, running over foot path means he was certainly drunken,road was not broad enough to him?very sad about the boy.Fellow had absolutely either no licence,or drunk.when he is being caught ,cancel his licence throw him in prison for life long .make him to pay penalty to the family.Heartfelt sympathy to the family.Hope atleast the others survive without any health problems and get well soon.
