Udupi, Dec 12: President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, will take part in the festivities being held here on December 27 to celebrate completion of eight decades of Pejawar Math Swamiji, Sri Vishweshateertha’s  initiation into asceticism, religious services, and dedicated service to Lord Krishna.

Sri Vishweshateertha (87) happens to be the 33rd Swamiji in the lineage of Pejawar Math heads. He was born at Ramakunja, Puttur taluk on April 27, 1931. M Narayanacharya and Kamalamma were his parents. His childhood name was Venkataramana.  His Upanayanam was performed when he was studying in Ramakunja Sanskrit elementary school, at the age of seven. He became a Sanyasi at Hampi on December 3, 1938, after undergoing procedures to renounce worldly pleasures and tread on the path of study of religion, worship of the Lord, and philosophy.

Union minister for water resources, Uma Bharti, who has adopted Pejawar Swamiji as her Guru, has decided to celebrate eight decades of the Swamiji's service to religion and humanity in a grand way. President of India will be taking part in these celebrations.

The Swamiji had ascended the Paryaya Peeta in 1952 for the first time and performed Puja of Lord Krishna for two years. He has completed five Paryaya terms, which is unparalleled in the history of the eight Maths of Udupi. He has also been known to be a Swamiji who mingles freely with all kinds of people. He has been active leader of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and served the Dalits by visiting their habitats.

In response to information about the visit by the President  to Srikrishna Math here at 12 pm on December 27, a preparatory meeting of police department and other officials was held at the office of the deputy commissioner here on Tuesday December 11.

It may be recalled that president Pranab Mukherjee had visited the city in the past. Deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis, said that the district administration is making preparations including providing protection to the visiting dignitary, maintaining law and order, and other things in relation to the proposed visit
