Bengaluru, Dec 6: The Central Sahitya Akademi awards for the years 2017 and 2018 were announced on Wednesday, December 5. Two from Karnataka have been picked for these awards, one for his service to Kannada language and another for his book on literary criticism.
Lexicographer, Prof G Venkatasubbaiah, who is 105 now, is one among the recipients of these awards. He has been chosen for the prestigious Bhasha Samman award for the year 2017. He is from Ganjam in Mandya district. He expressed happiness at the recognition his work has received.

It may be recalled that the central government had honoured Prof G Venkatasubbaiah with 'Padma Shri' title in 2017.
K G Nagarajappa has been selected for the award for his literary criticism work, 'Anushreni - Yajamanike'.
Meanwhile, Paresh Narendra Kamath from Goa has bagged the award for 2018 for his Konkani collection of poems, 'Chitralipi'.
The awards carry cash component of one lac rupees and citation.
