Bantwal, Dec 3: The indefinite agitations by residents of villages neighbouring the Shamboor A M R Power Project, continued on Tuesday December 2. The indefinite strike had begun on Monday December 1.
A M R Power Project Satrastara Hitarakshana Vedike Shamboor, has claimed it will continue the strike till displaced families get justice from the company. The protestors are accusing A M R Power of not fulfilling the assurances given to them when the land acquisition process was on.
Shamboor gram panchayat president Anand held talks with officers of A M R Power and tried to persuade them to award appropriate compensations to displaced families as was promised earlier. Shamboor gram panchayat vice-president Premanath Shetty, panchayat member Ramachandra, taluk panchayat member Usman Karopady, community leaders Sarapady Radhakrishna, Khader Kadeshwalya, Cherimonu, Sampat Kumar, Manjunath Bhat, Krishraj Bhat, and Rajesh Shantila, expressed their support for the protest.
The Tahsildar who arrived at the venue was also taken to task by angry agitators.
