Bengaluru, Dec 5: Shortly, Saudi Arabia will be opening its consulate office here. This was informed by Dr Saudi Mohammed Alsati, Saudi Arabian ambassador to India.
Dr Saudi Mohammed, who met the chief minister of Karnataka at Vidhana Soudha on Tuesday December 4, said that his country has decided to open a consulate office here.
He said that the number of people travelling between the city and Saudi Arabia has been increasing day by day and that the number of people seeking Saudi Visas has doubled. In view of these developments, it has been decided to open a consulate office here, he stated.
The Saudi ambassador stated that Saulat Unnisa, a woman from Bengaluru, had opened a school for girls a hundred years back at Mecca, adding that documents about this fact are available. "As per our information, her descendants are living in the city. If information about them is provided to us, we will honour the family," he added.
