Mangaluru: Missing student returns; clarifies former cop Madan has no role to play

Mangaluru, Dec 4: The missing engineering student, whose parents filed habeas corpus petition and alleged involvement of former cop Madan in his disappearance, has returned.

Vinayak who went missing from Mangaluru on October 8 was traced in Kochi and police have bought him to Mangaluru. Speaking to Daijiworld, Vinayak clarified that Madan has no role to play in his missing case.

“I went from Madan's residence on October 8. I left this place on my own wish, as I wanted to earn and stand on my feet to look after my education as well as my sister’s education. That is my only motive. My parents have toiled hard to find me but in this process they have failed in certain places while delivering statements,” he said.

"I worked for a month in Kerala. I was not using mobile phone and not in touch with social media for these months. I came to know regarding the developments that took place after I went missing, after reaching back Mangaluru,” said Vinayak.

"I was living in the residence of Madan for 8 months. We know each other well. I apologize to Madan for the allegations my parents have put on him. I had fixed my mind to earn on my own and stand on my feet. I have not been troubled by anyone and am not depressed,” said Vinayak.

It may be recalled that Shiva Kumar, a rickshaw driver had alleged role of former sub-inspector (SI) in Bajpe police station Madan and had filed a habeas corpus petition in the high court after his attempts to trace his son went in vain. The habeas corpus petition put more pressure on the police to crack the case.

According to parents, their son Vinayak (19), a second-year student of aeronautical engineering at a private college in the city had volunteered to help Madan who tendered resignation to the SI's post to contest in the assembly elections. Madan had contested Mangaluru South as an independent. Vinayak worked for Madan for about 7 months after the former had persuaded him to be part of election campaign.

Parents had also told that Madan lost the elections and he had kept Vinayak in his apartment promising him a job. Thereafter, Vinayak went missing under mysterious circumstances. The attempts of his parents to contact Madan also went in vain.

Vinayak’s parents had filed a missing complaint at Urwa police station.

It is bit unexplainable or untold things lieing in the air. Most probably there was some misunderstanding between parents and son.Thatswhy he went of his own to try to survive and stand on his legs.True it is paining parents when growingup children doesnt listen to them any more, but parents too have some understanding and remain back to preach when children are in a phase of conflict. Now he is back, accept him as he is and stop preaching. He has sure by now realized wrong and right and will be going in a right path.Wish all the best.
