Mangaluru, Nov 28: Three minors of the seven people, who were absconding after being charged of gang raping a woman in Thota Bengre on November 18, were detained by a special team of police on Wednesday, November 28.
A complaint was filed at the city women police station against seven people under complaint number 60/2018, under IPC sections 376 (D), 323, 504 and 506.
The alleged rapists had threatened the woman and her boyfriend against approaching police. However, they continued to harass the woman on phone. The woman then filed a police complaint and on the basis of her phone records, the cops were able to detain four of the seven accused.
To track the three minors who were absconding, a special team was formed with Panambur Inspector Rafique and Mangaluru North Sub-Division Anti-Rowdy Squad.
The three absconding minors have been presented before the Juvenile justice committee.
The investigation was led by Mangaluru Traffic Sub-Division assistant police commissioner Manjunath Shetty.
