Boston, Nov 26: "Berklee College of Music announces that Neilroy Miranda of Oman has earned placement on the Dean’s List for the summer semester of the 2008 academic year. To be eligible for this honor, a full-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.4 or above; a part-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.6 or above.
The Berklee curriculum focuses on practical career preparation for today’s music industry. Four-year degrees are offered in Performanc, Jazz Composition, Music Production & Engineering, Film Scoring, Music Business/Management, Composition, Music Synthesis, Contemporary Writing & Production, Songwriting, Music Therapy, and Professional Music."
The above publication was the latest media announcement made by the World famous music institute Barklee College of Music in Boston USA, that, Oman Resident has earned a special placement on the Dean’s List for the summer semester of the 2008 academic year. He is none other than Neilroy Isac Miranda, a nineteen years old Mangalorean youth of the Sultanate of Oman.
As known to the music enthusiasts in Oman, Neilroy was one of the youngest students to successfully complete the 8th Grade Music exams of ABRSM in the Sultanate of Oman. His parents, Norbert and Lida Miranda, hailing from Moodbidri and currently settled at Milagres parish – Mangalore Diocese, have strongly supported their son to pursue music career and achieve distinction.
Ex-student of Indian School Muscat, Neilroy had joined one of the pioneer music school’s in Muscat, “Melody Music Centre” in the year 1997. He started appearing for the music examinations in Theory of Music and Practical in Piano between 1999 and 2004 conducted by the Royal School of Music London. By 2002, he had completed five grades in theory with Four Distinctions and One merit. By 2004, he had successfully achieved Eight practical Piano grades with Three Distinctions, Three merits and Two pass. He was trained by Mr. Phillip Stallwood the local representative for Oman from Royal School of Music and Music Director, Royal Army Band, Muscat and Neilroy successfully completed his Diploma ABRSM (Piano Music Performance) in December 2007 conducted by Royal School of Music, London.
Neilroy has been rated one of the best solo Piano and Drum kit player in the Indian School Muscat. Additionally, he won the 1st Place for the Talent Show presented at the Concord College, U.K. participated by 32 countries during the summer course in 2005. He also won many certificates in Piano and organ competitions conducted by Yamaha, Melody Music and Young Musicians of Muscat. During the final year of School, he was bestowed with the Mr. Talented ISM (Indian School, Muscat) for the academic year 2006-2007.
