Mangaluru Nov 11: Minister for AYUSH, Sripad Yesso Naik inaugurated the installation ceremony of new office bearers of AYUSH foundation Dakshina Kannada and launched social service project here at St Aloysius High School on Sunday, November 11.
Addressing the gathering, Naik said AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) cannot function by its own without the support of the people. "AYUSH foundation has taken up the good work which has spread all over the taluk and other districts. AYUSH is just four and half years old. Prime Minister Narendra Modi understood the importance of AYUSH and formed separate ministry which makes us understand its importance.”
“Now it’s a proud moment for doctors to be identified as professionals from the AYUSH field. The message has to spread from school itself. A subject needs to be introduced in the syllabus from 5th standard till 12th about AYUSH and its importance so that students should be aware about it and can opt it as their profession,” he added.
The new office bearers of AYUSH Foundation Dakshina Kannada are Dr Gopala Krishna Nayak as president, Dr Santhosh Shetty as general secretary, Dr Ravi Ganesh as treasurer and Dr Keshava P K.
Founder president Ashajyothi Rai welcomed the gathering.
District AYUSH officer Dr Mohammed Iqbal, chairman Karnataka Education and Charitable Trust Dr Rajaneesh Sorake, president Tulunadu Education Trust Prof M B Puranik, administrator Father Muller Homeopathic Medical College Hospital Fr Sylvestar Lobo, superintendent of Wenlock hospital Rajeshwari Devi, director Global Institute Bengaluru Prof Srinivas Rao and others were present.
