Kuwait, Nov 10: Kullvar Rangmanchi, Kuwait a part of Konkani Kullvar Kuwait will be presenting a full-length comedy Drama ‘Mama Marinaka!’ by the beginning of the next year. The ‘muhurta’ of the same was held on Friday November 7, 2008 in Avanti Palace Restaurant, Salmiya at 4.30 pm. The drama written by Shaan Bondel will be played under the direction of prominent director Lancy Pinto Nayak.
To present this drama in a professional way, Kullvar Rangmanchi had organized a full-day training session on modern drama theatre. Training started at 10.00 am with a short prayer and lighting of the lamp by Lancy Pinto Nayak (convener), Ida D’Silva, Paladka (coordinator), Shaan Bondel (coordinator), Ronald D’Souza, Mulky and Lucy Aranha, Bejai.
Ida D’Silva welcomed the participants and Shaan Bondel gave a brief introduction of Rangmanchi and objectives of training on Modern Drama Theatre. Then, he handed over to Lancy Pinto Nayak for training throughout the day.
Nayak started the training with basic knowledge of modern theatre, such as different kinds of dramas, forms, themes and continued with the stage performance. He explained the forms of the stage and its importance. He also conducted various interactive sessions such as public speaking, memorization, eye contact, facial expression, voice modulation and pitch maintenance, clarity of voice, difference between acting and performance, voice, sound, pitch, volume, tempo, voice patterns, placement, costumes, dialogue delivery, body language, property balancing, body balancing, drama ethics and stage possession etc.
During the second part, all the eighteen participants played two short skits to prove their talents and were judged by Nayak. Later on questionnaire was given to the trainees related to that day’s training, as Rangmanchi will provide certificates to all participants who successfully completed the training.
At 4.30 pm, muhurtha was held. Mr & Mrs. Marian D’Souza (a Konkani activist in Kuwait) released darama book ‘Mama Marinaka!’ and handed it over to the director Nayak. On occasion, Shaan Bondel, Nayak and Marian D’Souza expressed their feelings. The session was ably conducted by Ida D’Silva. Rockey Lewis, Pitrody and L J Brahmavar were present on the occasion.
The drama will be staged by beginning of next year and rehearsals will be started soon. Once the performances of each and every actor will reach to the satisfactory level, Rangmanchi will announce the date, time and venue of show shortly.
