Bengaluru,Sep 18: The department of education has written to criminal investigation department director general of police, Praveen Sood, seeking advice on framing of stringent rules relating to misuse of internet by the students, and their habit of getting engrossed in websites through cellphones.
"On account of irresponsibility of parents, students have been misusing internet. They are found to be always involved with WhatsApp, Facebook, twitter and other social websites. Some also engage in viewing sexually provocative videos. These things have been casting unhealthy influence on students and result in their lagging behind in studies. The students often tell lies, get depressed, steal money from homes, and keep distance from parents. There are instances in which they also engage in cyber crimes. Some others illegally ride two-wheelers and cars and cause accidents. Therefore, there is a need to frame strict rules," the Karnataka Unaided Schools Managements Association had written to education department.
Principal secretary in the department, Dr Shalini Rajneesh, has now written to the CID, taking serious view of the contents of the said letter. The department wants to frame rules after getting information and pooling together suggestions, duly holding consultation with experts from different fields.
