Bangalore, Oct 25: Ensuring safety and security of citizens, upholding peace and communal harmony in the state and eliminating poverty and deprivation at all levels will be the mantras of the BJP government as it works towards Karnataka's overall development.
The first meeting of Karnataka's vision group headed by CM B S Yeddyurappa on Friday set 2015 as the deadline. The 21-member group, comprising IT czars, NGO chiefs and environmentalists among others, was constituted on Oct 14 to prepare a blueprint for Karnataka 2020.
"Such a vision must be shared by one and all, as without a collective commitment, its implementation will be in jeopardy. The core element is ensuring and enhancing human capabilities to promote equitable growth covering all sections of people and regions of the state. Making Karnataka a globally competitive destination and a leader among Indian states by institutionalizing good governance and enhance transparency will be the goal," Yeddyurappa told the members. The meeting was attended by Mohandas Pai (Infosys) and H Sudarshan (Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement), among others.
