Mangaluru: Vikas College of Physiotherapy welcomes new batch of students

Mangaluru, Sep 9: Vikas College of Physiotherapy, Mangaluru, was a beehive on September 8 as the students of 2018-23 batch reported to the college. To break the anxiety with multiple charms, the college conducted an orientation programme for the freshers.

Dr Vikram Shetty, professor and unit chief, department of Orthopedics, K S Hegde Medical Academy, Mangaluru, who was the chief guest, motivated the students assuring them that the Vikas management can provide them better placement opportunities. He advised students not to forget their parents and teachers’ sacrifices and dedication when they achieve their aspired goal.

He also pointed out that a physiotherapist is the one among the many specialists who is going to have an emotional touch with the patient as the treatment spans for months.

Krishna J Palemar, chairman, Vikas Education Trust, presided over the function. He said that there are a lot of job opportunities for a physiotherapist worldwide. He further urged the students to research and invent in the field of physiotherapy and to be the responsible citizen of our country. Dr D Shripathi Rao, correspondent, Vikas College, Mangaluru, also spoke on the occasion and stressed on the importance of effective learning and developing effective
interpersonal communication for a physiotherapist.

Trustees J Koragappa, Suraj Kumar Kallya, coordinator, Parthasarathi J Palemar, and principal of Vikas PU College Prof T Rajaram Rao were also present on the occasion. The alumni of the college also joined the programme.

Principal of Vikas College of Physiotherapy Dr Ajay Takur welcomed the gathering. The programme was compered by Dr Sunjyoth H S, lecturer in Physiotherapy and Dr Sneha Suresh, associate professor in Physiotherapy, introduced the members of the faculty of Physiotherapy and also rendered the vote of thanks.

Dr Vivek V Menon, lecturer in Physiotherapy, briefed the gathering regarding the anti ragging. Dr Sridevi Kini K explained the rules and regulations of the college and Dr Oyar Tatin briefed the rules and regulations of the college hostel for the students.
