Moodbidri, Sep 7: In an incident which happened at Mittapanjottu in Karinje village near here on Wednesday September 5 night, a youth ended his life by consuming liquor mixed with insecticide.

The deceased has been identified as Ashok (29) from Mittapanjottu. He was a coolie by profession.

Ashok used to stay with his parents-in-law. His parents had died eight years back and reportedly he often went through mental agony on this issue and had narrated about this ordeal to others. It is said that in the past too he had attempted suicide in this matter.

Ashok, who had left home on Wednesday evening, had not returned home. His younger brother went in search of him and found the motor bike and footwear of Ashok adjacent to a nearby pump shed. When he grew suspicious and peeped into the shed, he found Ashok's lifeless body. It is suspected that Ashok consumed insecticide mixed with liquor.

A case was registered at the town police station here and the police have taken up investigation.
