Mangaluru: Retired teachers felicitated at Shaktinagar by Shakti Education Trust

Mangaluru, Sep 6: Shakthi Education Trust here honored six retired teachers on the occasion of Teachers' Day.



The teachers who retired after long meritorious service and involved in several pro society work after their retirement were:

1. K A Rohini

Retired after working as Hindi teacher at Pompei High School from 1963 to 2001. She indulged in women's empowerment among poor and medium class women and created awareness through Kannada writings.

2. B Srinivas Rao

Headmaster of Ashoknagar higher primary school from 1953 to 1992 before his retirement. He had received several district level, state level and country level awards in teaching. He is holding programmes to bring forward school children in arts and literature.

3. Savitri S Rao

Was a teacher at Ashoknagar Higher Primary School from 1963 to 1990 before retirement. She held several workshops on how teachers should teach in classrooms. As she was responsible for the progress in teaching, she received excellent teacher awards from the state government and central government.

4. Bailoor Narayan Tantri

Taught Sanskrit at Canara High School Urva from 1976 to 2010. His suggestions and lectures revolved around teaching of Sanskrit. He has published books on Sanskrit grammer and other books and received several awards for his work.

5. K Narayan Nayak

A Hindi teacher and headmaster from 1963 to 2001 at Sajipa Mooda Government High School. He indulged in social work after retirement and helped in distribution of scholarships, old age pension, widow pension and other facilities from the government.

6. B Shambhu Shetty

Worked at St Aloysius High School as teacher of Kannada and social science from 1958 to 1998. He has directed and performed several dramas and supported dramatists. The department of public instruction presented him an award on identifying his service.
